Se puede utilizar una amplia variedad de plantas como pastos y cultivos forrajeros en los trópicos. De estos, algunos son particularmente importantes debido a su amplia adaptabilidad, facilidad de crecimiento, alto potencial de rendimiento y alto valor nutricional.
