Indian trumpet tree grows well in warm tropical and subtropical regions with moderate rainfall. Has a tall erect trunk with large podded fruits that hang down from bare branches. The Thai and Laotian names of these vegetable pods are “Tree Tongue” or “Sky Tongue,” describing the shape of these pods, which are used in traditional medicine throughout the region.

Collected from UHDP Center’s agroforestry plots.
