The first issue of DEEP on food security, prepared by the Liasison Committee of Develoment NGOs to the European Union focused on international and macroeconomic influences on food security. This issue takes a domestic approach in two senses. It considers those policy influences which can be termed domestic because they operate within countries, up to and including the national level. The domestic approach also insists on the household as the main reference point for the achievement of food security.
