Leucaena leucophala is a fast-growing, nitrogen-fixing, multipurpose tree, growing up to 18 m in height. It is used extensively in agroforestry systems for fodder, fuelwood, soil conservation and soil improvement. This tree is moderately drought tolerant and coppices well. It has become a problem weed in some areas.
