Recipe Instructions:

  1. Put sliced okra in a bowl, sprinkle generously with salt
  2. Cover with very cold water.
  3. Refrigerate the okra for a least an hour
  4. Drain; roll okra slices in cornmeal seasoned with salt and pepper until well coated
  5. Fry in a deep skillet in about ½ inch of hot oil until browned and crisp
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve hot
