The issue in this book is Guatemala: but it also reaches beyond Guatemala. We are looking at Guatemala as part of the Central American region. Even more broadly, Guatemala highlights the underdevelopment and the struggle of all Latin America.
As we go to press a few weeks after the 20th anniversary of the U.S. intervention in Guatemala, we hope that this book will contribute to an understanding of conditions in Latin America and of the strategies which can serve as the basis for overthrowing capitalism and its worldwide extension, imperialism.
