Ajulu explores how biblical ethics apply to the escalating challenges presented by entrenched and worsening poverty in communities around the globe. She combines theological reflection and first-hand knowledge of how communities experience the widely varied practices of what is commonly called "development."
Pointing to powerlessness and broken relationships as the primary root of poverty, she powerfully argues that the missing component in the development puzzle is the spiritual piece. Poverty violates God's moral laws, and, to combat poverty, she insists we must take into account mistaken or false spiritual identities, spiritual dependency and spiritual alienation from relationships and shared resources.
