IAHC seeks to make veterinary training materials available in local languages. The Handbook of Animal Health (published by International Animal Health Consultants) provides extensive information about the handling and care of most domestic animals kept around the globe, including treatment of the health problems these animals most commonly face. Readers will learn how to keep their animals healthy through good nutrition, as well as how to recognize, prevent, and control common animal health diseases. This technical manual, in easy-to-understand language, is a great companion to animal health professionals of all kinds, from livestock farmers to veterinarians. The clear and practical illustrations on nearly every page guide the reader in understanding and practical application throughout. As authors, we have intended that this manual will be a useful tool to help keep livestock healthy and productive. We also hope that all users of this book will gain the knowledge to recognize when they need to call on help from more experienced veterinarians and animal health workers.

“व्हेयर देयर इज़ नो वेट” (यहाँ पर कोई पशु चि कित्सक नहीं) पुस्तक का विचार वर् षों पहले आया था।
काम आधिकारिक तौर पर 1985 में स्वर्गी य डॉ. बिल बेक र द्वारा शुरू किया गया था, जि न्होंने आठ
साल तक हैती में एक पशु चि कित्सक के रूप में काम किया था। डॉ बेक र ने दुनि या के अधिकांश ग्रामीण
लोगों के जीवन में पशुधन की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिक ा को पहचाना। वह उन क्षेत्रों में रहने वाले लोगों के लिए
एक उपयोगी पुस्तक विकसि त करना चाहते थे “जहां कोई पशु चि कित्सक नहीं है।” यह पुस्तक उस
मूल दर्शन का विस्ता र करती है और पशुधन स्वा स्थ्य में रुचि रखने वाले किसी भी व्यक्ति के लिए
लिखी गई है, भले ही वे स्वयं पशुधन का मालिक हो या नहीं। इस पसु ्तक में ऐसे कार्यकर्ता ओ ंको “पश ु
स्वा स्थ्य प्रतिनिध ि” यानि ‘एनि मल हेल्थ एजेंट’ (ए.एच.ए.) कहा जाता है।
