Report of the Expert Consultation of the Asian Network on Water Lifting Devices for Irrigation, Bangkok, Thailand 27 Sept. - 1 Oct. 1993
The Expert Consultaion of Asian Network on Water Lifting Devices for Irrigation concluded that in the Asia-Pacific region, "Strategy on investment for irriation sector is now directing from "extensive" to "Intensive" development. This may further enlarge the gap of production level between areas in high production potential and low production potential. Harmonious development of land and water resources in high and low productivity areas is essential to achieve sustainable agricultural and rural devleopmnt in the region. Water lifting devices and groundwater resources are indispensable sources and continue to play an import role in the agricultural irrigation development in the region especially in low production potential area.
