The presentation introduces and defines the concept of multipurpose trees and shrubs in agroforesty. Different areas for multipurpose trees and shrubs research are presented and discussed. These relate to the tree component itself, its effect on the environment, its role in agroforesty systems and its identification and prioritization. The presentation then discusses the type and the frequency of different data that can be collected in this research.
