Strategy for sustainable livestock production in the tropics

The senior author is especially grateful to Dr Bo Gohi who encouraged him to put on paper the ideas and concepts that are the result of almost three decades of experience wholly devoted to the development of tropical livestock production systems, mostly in Latin America but with considerable exposure in both Asia and Africa. In the last 7 years, spent mainly in Colombia, these experiences have been adapted to form what is intended to be the basis of a coherent strategy on which to base development activities concerning the role of livestock in sustainable systems of agricultural production for the tropical regions of the world.
