This manual is intended for extension staff in Southern Province. It is unique in the sense that it has been compiled from materials, examples, procedures and practices within the Province. This manual will serve as reference material for in-service training and in agricultural and forestry training colleges and possibly serve directly or indirectly in the other provices of Zambia, especially Central and Lusake Provinces which have similar land-use systems to the palateau of Southern Province. It is also hoped that the manual will stimulate production of similar material for local use as well as further research into the improvement, management and incorporation of trees into farming systems.
