This comprehensive treatise begins with chapters on the development, ecological foundations, and the status of agroforestry in the US. Separate chapters cover technical aspects of the five major agroforestry practices, namely windbreaks, silvopastures, alley cropping, riparian forest buffers, and forest farming. Each is unique, and is interdisciplinary in purpose and operation. These systems are evaluated in later chapters that integrate the socioeconomic factors and project the future of agroforestry in the US.
