By means of this publication various local communities and individuals are able to share and transfer their knowledge, experience and expertise.  The practices they describe are for the most part illustrations of the intrinsic value indigenous knowledge as it is used in its specific local setting.  They are examples of strategies to help people -often members of ethnic minorities-in their daily struggle for surival and development, and in their efforts to gain recognition for their cultural identity.
