In this video I demonstrate the use of a husking peg to harvest corn. The tool is made by splitting a piece of straight grained wood, carving a point on one end and drilling two holes for attaching the finger loop. On the peg I use in the video the loop is made from a piece of inner tube from a truck tire. A leather thong would also work well. The husking peg that Porfirio is using is a simple round peg with a sharp point. He doesn't use a finger loop.

You may wonder about all the weeds between the rows of corn. We hoe and cultivate the corn until late in the season and then we let the weeds grow. After harvesting the corn we turned the cattle into the field to eat the stalks and weeds.
