Biology and Society is designed to do two things: One is to provide a broad, basic background in biology and the second is to put human societies and their activities into the biological context. People are very much a part of nature and not only influence but are influenced by, the living and nonliving world. Paul Ralph Ehrlich is an American biologist, best known for his warnings about the consequences of population growth and limited resources. He is the Bing Professor of Population Studies of the Department of Biology of Stanford University and president of Stanford's Center for Conservation Biology.
