This book lies midway between dictionary and textbook and its seventeen chapters on Indian agriculture follow a well-trodden sequence. Good handbooks serve four purposes.  They bring to light information that might otherwise lie buried; they reveal gaps in knowledge; they are exceedingly useful to field workers in the country concerned; and they are valuable to students of comparative agriculture everywhere, especially for the tabular infromation they contain.
