This document is a synthesis of the papers presented and the subsequent discussions, both formal and informal, during the course of the meeting. The meeting was the latest in a long series that started 25 years ago, with the objective of reviewing the state of knowledge concerning the role of various nutrients in the human diet, and if appropriate, their requirements and recommended intakes.
