Event: 2nd ECHO East Africa Pastoralist Symposium (2016-03-01)

Session: The session will describe misconceptions about pastoralists and their capacity to survive in harsh climates. Pastoralists need not be victims of development initiatives.

Biographical data: Loupa Pius was born in a pastoralist s community and recalls times rehabilitating from previous cattle raids and conflicts. He works as project officer with Dodoth Agro-pastoralists Development Organization (DADO ) in Kaabong which since 2015 is a pastoralist peace building organization in the borderline of three countries of Uganda, S. Sudan and Kenya. In 2014 he worked as a volunteer with Forever Forestry before joining DADO-Kaabong. He trained in permaculture with Forever Forestry and as a practitioner of Apiary planning and management. He is pursing a long distance Bachelor degree in agricultural science at the Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi and he holds an Uganda National Diploma in Entomology (Commercial insects) of Nyabyeya Forestry College of Uganda 2013.
